The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE (“fan edition”) is a phone that feels out of time and place. Many expected the device to debut months and months ago. Now, in January 2022, it finally arrives bearing last year’s name, last year’s specs, and last year’s design, leaving it slightly out of step with Samsung’s lineup. Samsung hasn’t explicitly said why the phone didn’t show up in 2021, though it likely has something to do with the ongoing global chip shortage. Whatever the reasons, the S21 FE is here now at CES 2022.

This mid-range device includes a respectable set of capabilities packed into a surprisingly simple piece of hardware that’s priced to sell. In Android Authority‘s Samsung Galaxy S21 FE hands-on, you’ll read our first impressions of Samsung’s latest smartphone.

We expected to see the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE back in August 2021. However, it never materialized. For a while, we thought Samsung may have abandoned the release altogether. That theory was proven wrong, though, when Samsung launched the phone during CES 2022.

As usual, this “Fan Edition” model looks and functions much like its namesake, the Samsung Galaxy S21. There are still plenty of differences, however, especially when it comes to pricing. In this buyer’s guide, we’re going to give you all the information you need on the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE!

  • The design of the OnePlus 10 Pro is now confirmed via OnePlus itself.
  • The company showed off the design during CES 2022.
  • As expected, the phone has a unique rear camera module with three lenses.

Over the past few months, we’ve had plenty of leaks related to the next slate of OnePlus flagships. With so much changing at the company, though, we weren’t sure the info we had was going to pan out in reality.

However, during CES 2022, the company today took the wraps off its next star product. We can now officially confirm the OnePlus 10 Pro is on the way and we can also confirm some aspects of its design.

Withings Body Scan smart scale ECG

  • The Withings Body Scan smart scale can record an ECG, body composition analysis, and measure nerve activity.
  • Withings will also provide personalized coaching plans alongside its new smart scale.
  • The Body Scan is expected to launch in H2 2022, pending CE and FDA clearance.

Household scales are no longer just for measuring weight. Sure, they do that too, but some companies are out to make the scale you step on every morning much, much more than that. The new Withings Body Scan smart scale can measure your weight, record an electrocardiogram (ECG), analyze your nerve activity, and even estimate your body composition.

The Withings Body Scan mostly resembles other smart scales. It’s covered in a single tempered glass panel and has a 3.2-inch LCD. What differentiates it, though, is a retractable handle above the display, which handles (heh) ECG and body composition measurements.

  • LG Display announced some new innovations at CES 2022.
  • The biggest news relates to transparent displays and how they could work in real-world scenarios.
  • LG also has more traditional announcements, such as consumer TVs.

We’ve already seen a little from LG Display pre-CES 2022. However, the company has now unveiled a bunch more concept products that make use of its cutting-edge OLED display technology.

In addition to its recent Media Chair and Virtual Ride concepts based on flexible OLED, LG Display’s latest concepts use transparent OLED to create new use cases. For example, the company envisions the technology used in shopping installations and store windows. Combined with graphics showcasing advertisements, discounts, festive decoration, and more, the idea fuses display technology and futuristic augmented reality ideas. In fact, you’ll already find similar transparent OLED deployed in South Korean malls and subways in China and Japan.

Antivirus Android apps remain one of the most popular types of applications on Android. Generally, you don’t need an antivirus app if you play it safe, only download apps from the Play Store, and keep your security settings enabled. However, there are those who like to take a walk on the wild side and not do those things. There are a ton of really bad antivirus apps out there. Even if these apps aren’t necessary, it’s good to know the safe ones that don’t suck. Here are the best antivirus apps and anti-malware apps for Android. All prices are current as of January 2021.

One final thing to note is that a lot of antivirus apps on Android do literally nothing or do a very bad job. Here’s a study that AV-Comparatives conducted with additional information about how effective some antivirus apps actually are. We recommend checking out that list before making any choices so you can help yourself make the right one.

  • Acer launched a trio of new Chromebooks at CES 2022, with updated CPU options from Mediatek and Intel.
  • The highest-end model is a premium 13.5-inch convertible, powered by Mediatek’s Kompanio 1380 compute chip.
  • Pricing for the new Chromebooks starts from $299.

Acer unveiled three new Chromebooks at CES 2022, refreshing its existing mid-range and premium portfolio with the latest chips from Intel and Mediatek. Notably, the most powerful model of the trio is powered by Mediatek’s Kompanio 1380 processor.

While we’ve seen several Chromebooks feature Mediatek processors so far, they’ve all traded performance for a lower price point — typically targeting the sub-$400 market. The updated Acer Chromebook Spin 513 looks to be an exception and is among the first to adopt Mediatek’s performance-oriented processors.

OnePlus 9RT official stream

  • OnePlus is launching the OnePlus 9RT in India on January 14, 2022.
  • So far, the 9RT has only been available in China.
  • It is unknown if the phone will hit other countries, but it’s unlikely.

Towards the end of 2021, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed there would not be a T-series phone in the OnePlus 9 series. However, he must have only meant flagship phone because the company did release a T-series model in its native China.

That phone is the OnePlus 9RT, a weird subtle riff on the India-exclusive OnePlus 9R. Now, the company is gearing up to bring the 9RT to India.

Opting for a free VPN for Android or any other device isn’t always a great idea. Some providers have bad intentions and will sell your personal info or your browsing history (or both) to the highest bidder. That’s why we always recommend paying a few bucks per month for a reputable VPN service.

However, a few trustworthy VPN providers offer free plans, but they have quite a few limitations in place. Almost all of them give you a monthly data allowance, and some even automatically select the location for you. If that doesn’t bother you, a free virtual private network may be a good option for you.
