We’re happy to see OnePlus commit to Android Pie for the OnePlus 3 and 3T, as Android OEMs don’t generally update three-year-old devices. The company has already issued an Android Pie community beta to these devices, but the firm has since issued a second community beta too.
The second beta, spotted by All About OnePlus, is focused on bug fixes rather than new features though. You can check out the brief changelog below:
Bug fixes
- Clock timer and stopwatch interface display is incomplete
- Microphone doesn’t work when earphones are plugged in
- Crash issues with native message app
The first community beta delivered new features, including a better Do Not Disturb mode, Game Mode 3.0, and a tweaked UI. The first community beta also delivered the April 2019 security patches for your convenience. Still, a final stable release can’t be too far away at this point.
Android Pie’s release on these older phones also comes as OnePlus gears up for the OnePlus 7 series. The company is set to launch the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro on May 14. The Pro model in particular is expected to be the firm’s biggest generational leap yet, offering an HDR10+ display, pop-up selfie camera, and triple rear camera setup.
